As the 2023 Hajj exercise peaks in Saudia Arabia, a report by the National Medical Mission revealed that Sokoto State tops the case of pregnancy in the holy land.
Recall, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON had earlier raised concerned about the number of pregnant Nigerian women pilgrims who scale the screening and found their way to Saudi Arabia.
A report by Dr. Usman Galadima, Head of Nigerian Medical Mission and Chief of Operations, showed a total pregnancy cases of seven; Sokoto 2, Kwara, Adamawa, Yobe, Plateau and Katsina have one case each.
The report also showed 30 cases of psychiatric, 6 deaths, 7 fractures, 2 delivery/miscarriage, and 8 communicable diseases; 7 chicken poses and 1 PTB.

Breakdown of significant rise in pilgrims with co-morbidities, showed increased referrals to Saudi hospitals with 100. Increase complication off diabetes; diabetic foot. Increased incidents of fractures among elderly pilgrims, and increased cases of cardiac arrest.
To avert this situation especiall at Muna and Arafat, the medical team is ensuring ready emergency response, ready ambulances for operations, caravan systems in place, and continued health and awareness campaign.
The National Medical Team forbthe 2023 Hajj exercise is made of 524 members, comprising 217 Doctors, 91 pharmacists, 188 Nurses and 28 EHO/CHOs from the the federal and states levels.
